Commercial Cleaning Associations

In this months blog post i thought it would be useful to consider some of the commercial cleaning associations. Most commercial cleaning specialities have their own dedicated professional associations and some have more than one. It important to check that any commercial cleaner you employ is a member of a professional association as this assures you that they have the proper training and equipment to get the job done in a safe manner.

British Institute of Cleaning Science

The British Institute of Cleaning Science is the largest professional body for the cleaning industry with over 10,000 members. Their mission is to raise standards across the cleaning industry by implementing professional training and standards across all companies working in the cleaning industry.

All members will display the BICS’c logo on their website and you should ask to see proof of their membership before engaging a company to perform commercial cleaning duties for you.


Association for Healthcare Cleaning Providers

The Association for Healthcare Cleaning Providers is an association dedicated to maintaining and encouraging an efficient domestic service to support the medical, nursing and allied services. They offer training and development specifically tailored to cleaning professionals working in the healthcare industry. Originally established in 1975 the AHCP has a long history of supporting and representing the industry at a national level.

The Federation of Master Cleaners

The The Federation of Master Cleaners is a national trade association formed to promote high professional standards within the domestic and commercial cleaning industry. The federation was formed  to give all cleaning companies a platform and a membership organisation that can verify they are professional, honest and reliable.


The Federation of Master Window Cleaners

The Federation of Window Cleaners was established in 1947 as an independent non profit organisation representing and supporting professional window cleaners across the UK. Their stated aim is to support and improve the window cleaning industry nationwide. Most importantly through the delivery of the Safety Accredited Scheme which helps members manage their health and safety requirements.
